Countdown to the BIG O-N-E

Feb 24-  How is it possible?! Luke is 4.5 weeks away from turning one! :O   I feel like things are changing every single day so it was important to write some funny stories and remember all of the funny things he is up to these days!  He has been able to pull himself up to standing position for some time, but now is really getting more and more confident in his walking each day. One week he didn't understand at all the point of the toy walker was. When we placed his hands on it and encouraged him to start walking, he just leaned forward to play with the front of it.. Now when he is in the right mood, he takes off!! Before he understood the concept of walking in with the walker, he was holding on to the back of his little race car and walking with the help of that. He can stand up and balance for 10-15 seconds.   Though he still isn't crawling, he has figured out how to scoot himself around. Like crawling where he has one knee on the floor, and will push off...

Closing out 2020!

With the blink of an eye, literally, 2020 is over! While there is some light at the end of this crazy tunnel we are walking through, I still think we have to have patience to reach the end.   I last posted in the end of September, and Luke was just about to begin the adventure that is eating! I have loved every moment of his eating adventure and as they say in Portuguese he has a "good mouth". He loves almost everything we give him. He took a few days to get used to the concept of eating but after that it was full speed ahead. He started with bananas, avocados, yogurt, and then we went right into everything! We followed the method known as Baby Led Weaning, which is basically letting the baby feed themselves and trusting them to know when they are full, what they don't like, and not forcing them to eat anything. Everything was cut to the proper size and Luke would go in for the grab! When it is something like yogurt, you load the spoon, and hand the spoon off to Luke for ...

Life of Luke part 2

September 20, 2020 With the snap of a finger our sweet Luke is already almost 6 months old. Reading through the last post, so much has changed with him!  He sleeps all night in his crib, and recently we have stopped giving him a dream feed (a feeding while he continues to sleep but before we go to bed), and only feed him once during the night when he wakes up. His bed time is around 730pm and he wakes up usually around 2-3am to eat, and sleeps until 6am or some days later. We have also started to do a little bit of sleep training to help him learn to fall asleep on his own. It is really hard to listen to him cry, but he has learned so quickly. We started last Monday and stayed in the room with him with a hand on his chest while he cried for a long time, the next night only two minutes and then he didn't cry at all when we put him in bed the nights after that. Every once in a while he will cry but it's not for very long and he gets nice and comfy, sometimes sleeping on his side. ...
