Winter in Melbs

In the blink of an eye, it's already July. Again, it is such a strange feeling because it feels like Christmas should be any day now with the backwards seasons, days are super short, the cold, snow in the higher areas of Victoria. No better way to confuse the girl who hasn't been home for Holidays in ages and been skipping out on winters for a few years now.

For a sun worshipping, desert dwelling lover, the Melbourne winter has been less than desirable. It's no Korean winter, however the rain, the cold, the wind, and super early darkness have me missing anything about warmth and summer.  Which is why I am literally counting down the days until I leave for Hawaii.. 16 more days! My family is blessed to have the opportunity to celebrate Cody's graduation from law school from the University of Arizona in May. He has already landed a full time job and will take the bar exam after our trip in Hawaii. Meeting the family in Hawaii will work out perfectly as it's as half way between us as possible. We will go on a 7 day cruise, and spend another week on Oahu exploring in an Airbnb house. My boyfriend, Joel will come and meet the family after we return from the cruise and spend a week in the sun and have the chance to meet my family.

The other thing to look forward to is my trip to Portugal coming up in September.

I have been working solely with one agency and have been generally really happy with my shifts. They are generally longer and I feel a lot more useful and needed than I was in the previous agency.  I've enjoyed the opportunities to work some sleepover shifts, and a lot more work in Residential houses.

While Joel had a business trip to Portugal and China for most of the month of May, I enjoyed a little get away for a Australian Ultimate Beach Championships in the Gold Coast. I headed down early to soak up the sun and get away from Melbourne. I didn't really do anything exciting in Gold Coast but absolutely loved the amazing beaches with super soft, perfect white sand, amazing sunsets, long walks, and then when the weekend arrived, my favorite tournament thus far in Australia. My team had awesome dynamic, similar mindsets, and did pretty well on the field. I believe... we took 5th or something? A few really close losses, but had the most amazing time.

Bauhaus Reserves End of Season Party
The end of our Bauhaus season was bittersweet. We lost a game on universe point which meant the best we could do was 8th.. However in the last game we had an amazing comeback by 4 points on universe point and we WON! So that was an incredible moment and I am super grateful for all the things I've learned with Bauhaus this season.

During the tournament I was also selected to play on a "Div 2 All Stars" Team for the Div 1 Nationals. The president of Australia Flying Disc Association was one of our coaches for the weekend and there too I got to play with talented ladies from all over OZ and had the most wonderful time.

Before Joel had his long business trip we decided to sneak away from the cold and get some beach and sun in. We had a beautiful time on Hamilton Island. We spent 4 days there and rented an apartment on airbnb which came with a golf cart that we cruised around the island everyday in. We did some beautiful hikes, enjoyed lots of beach time, pool time, and R&R. One of the days we did a trip to the WhitSunday Island, "voted Australians number 1 Beach".. We had tons of time to enjoy the beach, the warm water, and then did some snorkelling on a reef nearby. The conditions for snorkelling weren't the best but we still saw some cool fish. It's always hard to compare beautiful beaches to each other... but I would agree it would go on a top beach that I've been to in my travels.

Lukey Boy!

Just a quick post to write about our sweet Lukey boy!  Luke loves (is obsessed one could say) with " folding" the laundry! After arriving home from school, he would always ask if  I did the laundry. Then proceed to fold it right away. He does a great job with shorts, socks, and towels. The rest are still a bit wrinkly but at least he goes for it and sorts everything into piles for me! It's the cutest thing. If he is at home while the laundry is drying on the line, he insists I check it every few minutes to see if something new has dried.  He loves getting the weekly grocery ads and telling me how much everything costs. His ability to count, do basic addition and subtraction seems to have improved by tons in the last month or so. He is addicted to playing go fish and crazy eights. He can't quite hold the cars in his hand so usually he uses a box so we can't see his cards but he begs to play everyday.  Big news as hot wheels isn't his number 1, favorite thing an...

I'm sitting here in my parents lake house, while Luke naps with some free time and wanted to see the last time I wrote something here and was shocked as usual to discover it has been more than six months! :O    Luke is changing overnight in every way! He is still quite the chatterbox with people he is familiar. He can use 6 word sentences in English and Portuguese and even remembers what language to speak to different people in his life! It's incredible. I don't see him struggle to switch language when Joel asks something in Portuguese and then a minute later I ask something different in English.   Some people would tell us that when Luke started to speak he would be confused with two languages but that is completely inaccurate. He doesn't miss a beat.   You definitely learn what you (the parent) say a lot when your child is learning to speak. For a long time he was using "How about...?" all the time. (How about the green car? How about a banana?...
