Quick Tassie Trip

I am going to try and catch up on all our little trips and adventures since Christmas!

Joel and I were able to take a few days before an ultimate frisbee tournament to do some exploring. I always figure if we are going somewhere for a tournament, it is best to actually see things besides the field, which sadly happens frequently.

We just had two fun filled days in the end of February. We stayed overnight near the airport in a caravan park. As we approach this empty dark road, all of a sudden there are cop lights, and a drunk driving station is set up. Of course Joel blew zero, but I really wonder how many people they were going to catch on the dead end road that night. To our surprise, some of our Colombian friends were camping in the same place so we had a lovely evening chatting and catching up.  Sadly, we didn't know beforehand so didn't make travel plans together.

The next morning we drove up to Wineglass Bay where we did a short little hike to the top and through the National Park. There were some amazing stops and photos.

We stayed the night in a tiny little town called Bicheno where we spotted a lone penguin on the rocks the next morning. There was also a blow hole, however the tide wasnt great when we were there so it definitely wasn't in its peak time of awesomeness. I will leave the rest to the photos for you to enjoy.

The two days at the tournament had absolutely perfect weather and was right on the beach. Everyone had warned us how crazy tassie weather was but we must have gotten lucky!

Winter in Melbs

In the blink of an eye, it's already July. Again, it is such a strange feeling because it feels like Christmas should be any day now with the backwards seasons, days are super short, the cold, snow in the higher areas of Victoria. No better way to confuse the girl who hasn't been home for Holidays in ages and been skipping out on winters for a few years now. For a sun worshipping, desert dwelling lover, the Melbourne winter has been less than desirable. It's no Korean winter, however the rain, the cold, the wind, and super early darkness have me missing anything about warmth and summer.  Which is why I am literally counting down the days until I leave for Hawaii.. 16 more days! My family is blessed to have the opportunity to celebrate Cody's graduation from law school from the University of Arizona in May. He has already landed a full time job and will take the bar exam after our trip in Hawaii. Meeting the family in Hawaii will work out perfectly as it's as half...

Mitdad del mundo, Ecuador!

The start of Ecaudor was quick. The morning after I arrived I did a free walking tour of old town and historic center of quito! That was really helpful to learn all the information and know where you are headed. He also talked a lot about the fruits and food of Ecuador.. It seems somewhat similar however some things slightly different. A few of the fruits have different names. After the walking tour I checked out one of the cathedrals with two guys I met on the walking tour. The hostel I stayed at in Quito was pretty unique. Pretty small and cheap and just run by one lady, her sister and mother who had kind of adopted this crazy indian guy who spoke no english and spanish and sits around and watches youtube clips of some sort of sport mixed with fighting and cricket? No one had any idea what it was! Some of the guys staaying there from argentina decided to organize a new years dinner. The following day we headedto the market to shop for that.. Originally it was about 10 of us then we...

Travel Tales so far in 2018

Ok onto the fun stuff! The travels of the year!  My mom came to visit for 5 weeks from the end of March until May. It was really nice to have her here to keep us company, do some gardening work, and we went on a little trip as well during her time here. In Portugal we went to Coimbra together for the day, Soito to enjoy the Senora da Granja festival, and Obidos. My mom also visited Lisbon on her own. In between her visits in Portugal we headed to Toulouse where we visited our great friends who are French but raised their girls, similar in age to myself in the Phoenix! One of their daughters lives in NY and Melissa was currently staying with her parents but kind of floating around working in sustainable fashion design. She was working on a project while we were there creating a dress from plastic bottles! I loved seeing some of her photos of her work!  Anyways, They moved back to France after Melissa graduated High School in AZ early. It was so much fun to catch ...
